Meaning « in the middle of the water » in latin, the Médoc forms almost a peninsula (80km long and 10km wide), surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Gironde river to the east. With 5700 ha, the appellation benefits from an exceptional geographical location and produces 300 000 hl of red wines exclusively. The « Haut-Médoc » in the south is very different from the « Bas-Médoc » in the north, which represents the Médoc appellation strictly speaking.
Main grape varieties : Cabernet-sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec, petit verdot.
Soils : Gravel
Style of wines : Deep color. Nose with a beautiful aromatic range : red and black fruits, notes of bell pepper and liquorice, a few aromas of mushrooms and undergrowth for younger vines. In the mouth, structured and full with flavorful tannins. With age, this charming and well-balanced wine develops roasted aromas with a light animal touch.
