In Bordeaux, the 1936 vintage is quite weak with light, nervy wines. Some Château chose to abandon their wines.

 

Sauternes wines are not any better, they are light and lack in character.

 

This vintage was difficult in Bourgogne as well, the vines suffered from severe frosts in the spring. The young vine buds were delicate and easily killed by the cold.

 

Only Vallée du Rhône managed to save the 1936 vintage, despite the cold and frost. The harvest was successful and produced a decent vintage.
