After the triumphant success of 1928 and 1929, 1930 was particularly difficult due to unstable weather conditions. There were many temperature gaps and heavy rainfalls, making good 1930 wines very rare.
The cold and damp spring in Bordeaux did not help the vines to develop properly. A very difficult year, 1930 was not ideal to produce quality red wines.
In Bourgogne, due to the weather, the harvest was late and the vinification delicate. However, the mild weather and generous sunrays in october helped produce a small quantity of grapes.
There were still a few successes that year : Château Pape Clément with a quality red wine or Château Lascombes with a very nice Bordeaux red wine and a very well preserved 1930 vintage.
To offer an ancient wine is an excellent idea for an anniversary, a wedding or simply to please a wine collector, since 1930 bottles are very rare.
