Overall, the 1865 production was quite average. Though the « primeur » production was plentiful and perfectly matured, it was disappointing later on. Au droit de bouchon has selected a wide range of 1865 wines for your own enjoyment.

 

In Bordeaux, the production was significantly larger thanks to favorable weather conditions. The soft summer sunlight helped to promote grape maturation. However, the production of red wine was not very successful as they don’t age very well.

 

In Sauternes, the production of white wine is average and gave a decent 1865 wine with two basic caracteristics : vivacity and crispness.

As for the syrupy wines, they are average in quality and don’t really stand out.
