Cultivating its unique properties through grape varieties, different styles of wines and an appellation system in which are included the grape varieties such as riesling, gewurztraminer, muscat, pinot noir…
The produced wines are always high-quality thanks to the winemakers' skills, who always prioritize excellence. Since the 1970s, the Alsace region shifts more and more towards organic culture.
Alsace et Alsace Grand cru
Most important appellations in Alsace, producing a majority of excellent white wines (92%), including grands crus classés. The bottles, the label of which shows the grape variety, indicate that it is 100% present : Alsace Muscat, Alsace Riesling, Alsace Gewurztraminer, Alsace Pinot noir, Alsace Sylvaner… When the variety is not included, it is a blend of various varieties and the bottles are sold within the Edelzwicker or Gentil appellation.
The Alsace Grand Cru appellation wishes to highlight the best terroirs ; some of them are defined according to rigorous climatic geological standards. The produced wines must answer strict regulations regarding viticulture, grape variety, output, alcohol level, vinification...
These two appellations are perfectly highlighted by producers of high-quality crus, among which we can find : the Pfaffenheim cellar, Domaine Dopff & Irion, Domaine Hugel, Domaine Pierre Frick, Domaine Ostertag, Domaine Seppi Landmann, Maison Trimbach, domaine Weinbach, domaine Zind-Humbrecht…

Style of wines :
– for Alsace wines : white wines are dry, fruity, with a generous bouquet and unique properties related to their terroir. The Gewurztraminer offers structured and powerful wines with floral and fruity notes of rose and lychee. The Riesling produces more robust wines with mineral notes and touches of citrus. The Muscat offers seductive wines with a nose of fresh grapes and touches of exotic fruits. The white Pinot creates powerful wines with a nose of flowers and white fruits.
– Red wines are delightful and tangy with aromas of currant and cherry. Produced from pinot noir, they have a crisp taste and develops aromas of ripe red fruits and an animal touch with age.
– The syrupy wines from late harvest or noble grain selection are prestigious, classy wines with an exceptional concentration of aromas.
– For Alsace grands crus : 51 grands crus classés, all very different depending on their original terroir. They are all exceptional, fine and powerful wines, perfectly fit for ageing.
