Château Montrose is a prestigious and world-famous domaine producing great Saint-Estèphe wines. The produced red wines, ranked as Second Growth in 1855, are composed of 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. They are powerful, full-bodied and tannic wines, very appreciated by experts and lovers of prestigious wines for their aromatic range and great ageing potential, typical of this renowned appellation. In the 19th century, Château Montrose's fallow lands were the property of Château Calon. Etienne Théodore Dumoulin decided to plant and cultivate vines, successfully, and build a castle. In 1855, the estate was rewarded with the prestigious Second Growth title.
