Château Pontet-Canet is a prestigious domaine producing great Pauillac wines. The produced red wines, ranked as Fifth Growth in 1855, are composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot. They are powerful tannic wines with a strong ageing potential which remain affordable, especially for bottles from the prestigious Pauillac appellation, but are catching up slowly with the price of their famous neighbors. The estate is currently owned by Alfred Tesseron, son of Guy, Cognac producer, assisted by Jean-Michel Comme and famous oenologist Michel Rolland.
