Château Boyd-Cantenac is a prestigious domaine producing great Margaux wines. The produced red wines, ranked as Third Growth in 1855, are composed of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot. The vines are planted in a siliceous gravel soil and benefit from natural culture without fertilizers. Château Boyd-Cantenac is named after James Boyd, who bought the Cantenac lands in the 18th century. In 1806, the estate was acquired by John Lewis Brown, owner of Domaine Cantenac-Brown. It is now the property of the Guillemet family.
