Château Rieussec is a prestigious domaine with vines located on the Fargues and Sauternes hillsides, next to the mythical Château d'Yquem's vineyard, producing a great syrupy white wine ranked First Growth in 1855. Originally, this estate was owned by the monks of Carmes de Langon ; and after several different owners including Mr Marheillac, Mr Crépin, Mr Defolie, Mr Bannil, the Basqueton family and Mr Baralesque, it became the property of Albert Vuiller. As a result of a dedicated work, he built for Château Rieussec an international reputation before selling it to the Baron de Rothschild Domaines, who successfully maintained this level of excellence.
