Ranked First Growth in 1855, Château Margaux is a mythical world-famous wine. In the 12th century, the property didn't vines but grain crops, which were replaced in the 16th century by Pierre de Lestonnac. In the 18th century, its success spread widely and internationally thanks to famous wine lovers such as the British Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole and american president Thomas Jefferson. Like most great Bordeaux wines, the early 20th century was a difficult time for Château Margaux but it grew significantly after its repurchase in 1977 by André and Laura Mentzelopoulos, thanks to whom it produced a graceful, rich and complex wine with consistent quality. Their daughter Corinne maintains Château Margaux's level of excellence with the help of managing director Paul Pontallier. The produced white wine, Pavillon Blanc, is also excellent and considered as the greatest white wine of the Médoc.
