Despite its modest size of 900 ha, Saint-Julien is located between Pauillac and Margaux, one of the most prestigious appellations thanks to the personnality of its castles. Producing 46 000 hl of red wines exclusively, it includes 11 Grands Crus Classés, 5 of which are second growths such as Château Léoville Las Cases, Château Léoville Poyferré, Château Léoville Barton, Château Gruaud Larose and Château Ducru Beaucaillou. All these exceptional wines, which vary considerably depending on the castle, are powerful and robust with a great ageing potential.

Main grape varieties : Cabernet-sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc

Soils : Gravel, marls, stones

Style of wines : deep black-purple color for these exceptional Bordeaux wines with a fine nose and aromas of black fruits pulp (blueberry, blackcurrant, blackberry), prune, liquorice, tobacco and smoky, animal notes. In the mouth, fleshy, ample, beautifully structured and well-balanced with tight, fine and elegant tannins. A long, spicy and fruity finish.
