With its ideal soils, climate and ancient expertise, Pauillac is the wine capital of the Médoc, on the left bank of the Gironde river, and combines exceptional conditions in order to produce fine Bordeaux wines.

The Pauillac appellation holds 3 of the 5 First Growths from 1855 : Château Lafite, Latour and Mouton Rothschild, but also other Grands Crus such as Château Pichon, Longueville and Pichon Comtesse, Château Duhart-Milon, Pontet Canet, Lynch Bages and Clerc Milon. Aside from a few exceptions like Mouton Rothschild, which produces a white wine called « Aile d'Argent », this exceptional vineyard spreads over 1190 ha, produces 64500 hl of red wines with varying qualities, from Château Latour's purity to Château Lafite-Rothschild's suppleness.

Main grape varieties : Cabernet-sauvignon (mostly), merlot, petit verdot, malbec.

Soil : Gravelly hilltops

Wine style : Deep ruby color. Rich, dense and deep. Elegant and complex nose with flavors of black fruits such as blackcurrant and morello cherry, flowers like rose and iris, roasted and smoked notes of cedar, leather and incense. A rich, generous and smooth finish with tight and full-bodied tannins, needing time to round off. Long on fruits. Exceptional ageing potential, long-keeping wine.
