In 1989, weather conditions were quite favorable : heat of the sun and mildness of the rainfalls ensured a fruitful and early harvest, resulting in a majestic and well-balanced wine with a naturally good level of alcohol (13°), especially in Bourgogne and in spite of the april frost in the Hautes-Côtes.
The cold snap in Champagne damaged the harvest, but the spring sun came to the rescue. The vines produced an excellent fruit and a flavourful, high-quality wine. Successful, tannic and silky wines. 1989 wines possess a good ageing potential as well as a perfect alcohol level and acidity.
Prestigious 1989 references are : Margaux, Palmer and Lynch-Bages. Special mention goes to the 1989 Haut-Brion for an exceptional, full-bodied Merlot.
An excellent wine-themed gift idea for wine lovers and occasional consumers. Any occasion is appropriate to taste a delicious 1989 wine, a wedding, anniversary or even a romantic dinner.
