1983 was very successful and produce a great vintage, both quantitatively and qualitatively. 1983’s wines represent an above average vintage.
Despite a humid summer and an unbearing heatwave, resulting in a slight vine rot, Bordeaux produced a quality vintage. Influenced by an overmaturation of the grape, the vineyards produced exceptional wines.
This 1983 vintage reached a new harvest record in Champagne thanks to many exquisite, and thus rare, successes. They are, nowadays, expensive and very hard to manage.
Bourgogne suffered from a temperamental weather : hail storms in may, followed by a very warm and wet summer which caused substantial losses during harvest. However, its fruity wines managed to find a good balance with time.
1983 red wines from the Rhône valley are abundant with good quality.
Sauternes wines are remarkable, with a smooth and honeyed taste.
Take advantage of this wonderful 1983 vintage with some of the most prestigious and successful bottles… Châteaux Latour, Palmer, Mouton, Margaux, Climens, Fargues or Yquem.
You will never be disappointed by any of these honourable mentions.
