Rare wine - Vintage 1980

The 1980 vintage was quite late and disappointing in most french regions. Due to the tardiness of the flowering, maturity and date of the harvests, Bordeaux wines were quite weak in quantity and quality.

However, a few domaines stand out : Latour, Margaux, Pichon Comtesse, Talbot, Cheval Blanc and Pétrus.

In Sauternes, wines are quite successful with a pronounced taste : the 1980 Châteaux Yquem and Climens, for example, are extremely delicate.

The Bourgogne region produced wines of the highest quality. Difficult weather conditions were a significant factor : a rainy september which led to rot and an early, and rushed sorting of the grapes.

Champagne produced a good vintage whereas Loire produced diluted and unappealing wines.

In the Rhône region, the 1980 vintage was average. Hermitage and Châteauneuf du Pape, however, are excellent.

Let yourself be tempted by the 1980 vintage and opt for a quality Bordeaux wine to celebrate your happiest and most prestigious events.
