Even if 1978 seemed difficult, especially following the unsuccessful 1977 vintage, it still turned out to be a very good vintage, in particular for the Bordeaux region.

Weather conditions were unbearable up until august but the wines resisted beautifully. The warmth of september saved the harvest, which produced appealing and long-ageing wines, full of character.

In Bourgogne, the 1978 vintage was perfect : the wines are beautiful and well-balanced with a great ageing potential. They age beautifully with notes of blackcurrant and truffle.

1978 is the best vintage of the decade, a reference for the Rhône region. Producing tannic, acidic wines, Châteauneuf du Pape and Côte Rôtie are excellent bottles.

Champagne, however, suffers from a loss of quality and quantity.

Here are the best bottles : Vieux Château Certan, Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Lafite will make your meals even more delightful.

A 1978 bottle will be perfect to celebrate an important event and impress your guests.
