1968 wines are very rare due to the difficult year french regions had.
In Bordeaux, this vintage is fare from excellent : with the heat wave in june followed by the cold and heavy rains in august, the Bordeaux vineyards failed to produce good wines. Besides, the 1968 red wines lack character and only Château Haut-Brion managed to produce a fruity and well-balanced wine.
Rhône and Bourgogne were as unlucky and their 1968 vintage was extremely difficult. The rain persisted from august to october.
The Champagne region was also affected by the bad weather : the heavy rainfalls in september damaged the grapes and caused unmanageable rot.
Finding an excellent 1968 wine for an important event such as a wedding anniversary is a great idea. We recommend a Château Haut-Brion, the best wine from this vintage, or a Château Margaux.
