1939 wines represent a very fine vintage for Sauternes, even though the year was quite difficult for most french regions.
In Bordeaux, the 1939 vintage is good : harmonious and well-balanced red wines were produced. Even if the weather conditions were not ideal, the harvesting period was blessed with good weather. The red Bordeaux wines are fruity and fresh with a good ageing potential.
Sauternes had an excellent year and the wines produced are high quality and harmonious. The wines are syrupy, sweet and fruity, especially from Château Suduiraut or Château d’Yquem, who produced flamboyant wines.
Bourgogne did quite well and produced supple and very aromatic 1939 red wines.
Champagne was very successful thanks to a high-quality and fruitful harvest.
To celebrate an important event with a nice 1939 wine, we recommend one of the following : Blason de France, Câmara de Lobos, Domaine de Mahu, Laubade Bas Armagnac, Château Climens and Château Duplessis.
