Like its predecessor, 1929 produced an excellent vintage with fine and elegant long-ageing wines thanks to the mild weather conditions in France.
The Bordeaux region produced fine wines, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Even with a late harvest, the Bordeaux wines are rich and abundant with a good ageing potential, which makes them very accessible.
A very nice 1929 vintage in Champagne produced a quality wine, though a little austere with a slight acidity which hides some of its qualities.
In Bourgogne, the red and white wines are excellent but produced in small quantities. Corton Charlemagne, Richebourg, Chambertin, Meursault and Musigny are excellent. In Bourgogne, 1928 is the best vintage of the century.
In Vallée du Rhône, excellent red wines were produced : Hermitage and Côte Rôtie are some of the best and deserve a try.
In Alsace, 1929 wines are fine and have a beautiful, intense color, they are well-balanced in tannins, acidity and alcohol.
For a tasting or to celebrate an important event, why not offer a beautiful 1929 bottle ? Here is a selection of the some of the best 1929 bottles : Château Trillon, Château Kirwan, Château du Verger, Château Belair, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Banyuls Grand Cru and Château Pontet-Clauzure.
