2017 was not an easy year for winemakers. After late frosts and a warm spring, winemakers had a little room to breathe. Climatic variations did indeed interfere with grape cultivation and reduced some of the harvest, the first results were very promising. For 2017, there is a wide variety of wines from the various french appellations. For 2013's world best sommelier, Paolo Passo, it is a very good vintage for the crops that avoided hail and frost. The low yields allowed for a higher concentration of aromas in the wine. Reds are more contrasted and Bourgogne wines made the most of it with some beautiful surprises. Tastings only confirmed this vintage's few successes. Maybe 2017 was the exception to the curse of the vintages in « 7 » since they rarely produce exceptional wines, except for 1947. You can open your bottles or keep them for a little while. With this disparity, it is best to be well advised and careful when choosing a 2017 wine.
