It spreads over 6 departments, from Vienna to Avignon, along the Rhône river.
There are 2 groups : the northern Rhône valley and its prestigious appellations such as Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, St Joseph, Hermitage and Cornas, and the southern Rhône valley with its famous wines from Châteauneuf du Pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Côte du Rhône.
This region produces wines which are highly sought-after in the world for their finesse, structure, freshness and aromatic qualities : the Hermitage wines from Domaine Jean Louis Chave, Côte-Rôtie wines from Domaine Jamet, Cornas wines from Domaine Clape or Châteauneuf du Pape wines from Château Rayas, Beaucastel and Vieux Télégraphe, without forgetting fine wineries such as Maison Guigal, Jaboulet, Chapoutier or Delas.
